Patents

I want to be honest here.  I have filed patent applications to cover the particle panel concept[two U.S patents pending so far, more on the way including European patents] and have every intention of making money with the idea if I can.  I have a partnership with two fantastic patent attorneys in Albuquerque, NM.  We have been working together for almost the last decade on an idea we call Knowm, and have an intellectual property holding company solely for holding and licensing my patents.  I say this to encourage any company or private individual out there who wants to be part of a commercial venture to contact me or my lawyers rather then stealing the idea and thinking you can get away with it.  I am not your average helpless inventor who will tolerate getting his idea stolen.  If you want to make money with particle panels, you just need to talk to me and we can work something out.

with that nastiness out of the way...

This idea is in its absolute infancy,  and I have taken a risk in letting the world know about it at such an early stage.  By filing a patent I reserve a right in commercializing the idea, but this does not keep anybody out there from building one of these panels for themselves.  In fact, I would really encourage everybody to tinker around and help me perfect this idea.  Why?  Because you can be part of a new industry by helping me get this idea into the market.  I built the first prototype with commonly available materials in my backyard (my garage is full of stuff). Thousands of people working together in their garages and talking to each other will get things done much faster then me working in my spare time trying to push this idea forward.  Lets call this an experiment in social innovation.

If you are a tinkerer...build a panel!  Are you an expert in plastics and think I am full of it?  Blog about it or leave a comment on this blog.  If you just like the idea, tell your friends.  If you have an idea that could improve the panel we could help you patent it and even license it.  Are you a company and would like to license the idea? Contact me or talk to IP lawyer extraordinaire Luis Ortiz.
